Create Your Own Art Studio

Art Studio Tour

When we moved into our ’90s home that hadn’t been updated, we took on the challenge of refreshing every single room over the next year. One of my first ideas was to transform the plain office into a bright and fun art studio to enjoy with my two kids.

Art Studio

This room makes me so happy! Ever since I was young and broke, living in a tiny loft, I’ve always found a way to create an art space. In some of my first places, I even opted out of having a living room just to fit all my art supplies. It’s all about priorities, right?

Now, with two little ones who love art as much as I do, I’m excited to share this space and create memories together.

Before and After

Before + After

Here’s a snapshot of what the room looked like when we first bought the house compared to now! We kept the original cabinets and extended them to reach the ceiling, then painted them using a special method to match the walls.

Art Studio Details

I snagged this cute easel at an estate sale, and the chandelier came from Amazon. This room is where we store all our acrylic paints, painting supplies, and my ceramic tools. If you peek under the desk, you’ll see bags of clay. It’s a truly magical creative space that my kids and I use equally. It’s often messy, but totally worth it. (Seriously resisting the urge to call it “A Beautiful Mess” here, haha).

Art Studio Workspace

I spent a lot of time transferring paints into squeeze bottles. People often ask if it’s for looks or practicality—honestly, it’s both! They’re super easy to use and look much better than standard paint bottles. I also collect high-quality acrylics and oils, with Golden and Nova Color being my favorite brands.

High-end paints are pricey, so I often use craft paints for projects with my kids or for DIYs on Childhood Magic.

Gift Wrap Station

The wrapping station is my pride and joy! I’ve dreamed of having one my entire adult life, and I absolutely love it. You can see my pottery glazes and half-finished pieces stored here too.

Wrapping Paper

Those are rolls of old wallpaper, which I just adore as decorations. The mixed patterns make my heart happy!
