Hey there! I totally understand – the holidays are packed with parties, houseguests, cooking, and decorating. It can be crazy! So, thinking about decorating your kid’s room might seem like adding more to your plate. But hear me out, I’ve got a few great reasons why you might want to give it a try!

For this fun post, we’ve teamed up with our pals at Spoonflower. Aside from being an incredible spot for wallpaper and fabric, they also have amazing home decor items (and more!) that you might need to spruce up your space. Plus, they showcase the work of thousands of independent artists and have designs for any holiday you can think of!

For my daughter Lola’s holiday room, I chose this adorable Santa print for her duvet cover. These red and green checked sheets add a fun pop of pattern and color that pairs perfectly. Holiday curtains? Yes, please! These candy cane curtains and nutcracker wall hangings brought it all together.

So, why should you decorate your kid’s room for the holidays? Let me tell you…

Why decorate your kid’s room for the holidays?

Childhood magic doesn’t last forever:

It’s true, the holiday season has a certain magic when you’re a kid that’s hard to beat. The promise of presents, sparkly decorations, and the smell of cookies—all these things create memories that last a lifetime. Why not make it extra special while you can? Plus, watching their eyes light up is pretty magical for us parents too!

Memories are tied to physical items:

The holidays are all about people and moments, but certain physical items also carry sentimental value. My family has Christmas plates and cups we use every year, and unpacking those items brings back so many great memories. Same with our Christmas pajamas and holiday sheet sets—they made bedtime feel so magical.

Reusable items make it easy:

Let’s face it, kids grow out of things quickly—like those adorable holiday pajamas. But if you choose decorations like bedsheets, pillows, duvet covers, throw blankets, curtains, or wall hangings, they can be reused year after year. And a cozy holiday bookshelf with seasonal books can become a lovely tradition that’s easy to maintain and update.

Decorating can be quick and easy:

We all know the holiday to-do list is endless, but swapping out things like bedding is super simple. You already have to wash the sheets periodically, so why not change them? Throw pillows can be replaced in a second, and changing out artwork is a breeze. You can even make paper Santa hats to add to existing art (I did this with a cat picture!). The easier it is to set up, the more time you’ll have for baking cookies and sipping hot cocoa by the fire!

It’s simply adorable!

Honestly, do you really need a reason to surprise your little one with a cute holiday-themed room? It’s just so darn cute, and the look on their face will be priceless. Plus, if your kid loves decorating as much as mine does, they can even help out, making it a fun holiday activity to do together.

If your little one is just as excited about the holidays as mine, seeing their decorated room will make your effort totally worth it. Hope these ideas add a little extra magic to your holidays.
