Giant 100-Foot Slip And Slide

What’s more summer than a slip and slide, right? I remember sliding down plenty as a kid. A few summers ago, my husband and I decided to turn our sloped backyard into a massive 100-foot slip and slide. Perfect for family fun!

Whether you have a sloped yard or flat ground, setting this up is quick and easy.

How to Make a Giant 100-Foot Slip and Slide

The awesome part? You can reuse the main supplies year after year. We moved ours from Nashville to Pittsburgh and set it up in the front yard.

Safety note: Slip and slides are fun but can be risky if you’re too wild. Take it easy and be careful!

Here’s a step-by-step on how we made our own giant slip and slide.

Supplies

  • About 30-35 pool noodles
  • 100 feet of plastic sheeting (6 mil thick)
  • Additional 6 ml sheeting for a splash zone (optional)
  • 6” lawn stakes
  • 4-6 hay bales
  • Hose or sprinkler for water
  • Optional: Liquid soap (go for something natural to protect your lawn)

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Set It Up: Lay out your 100-foot plastic sheet on the yard. Place your pool noodles along each side, saving a couple for the top.

  2. Secure the Noodles: Roll the pool noodles into the plastic sheet so they’re fully wrapped. Use 6” lawn stakes (at least two per noodle) to keep them in place. A rubber mallet helps secure them into the ground. Do this for all the noodles and secure one at the top too.

  1. Create a Stopping Point: Set up hay bales in a semi-circle at the end of your slide. Cover them with plastic for a splash zone and secure it.

  1. Add Water and Slide!: Set up your hose or a sprinkler at the top to get things slippery. You don’t need a ton of water. Plus, a little soap can help, but don’t overdo it.

Blow up some pool rafts for extra comfort—they’re a big hit with kids!

  1. Keep Safety in Mind: Use long stakes to avoid any hazards. During your fun, check the stakes and make sure they’re secure.

Cleanup

When you’re done:

  • Pull out the stakes.
  • Unwrap the pool noodles and let them dry before packing away.
  • Let the plastic sheet dry completely to avoid mold—hang it over railings, chairs, or a fence.

The hay bales? Use them for your yard, bonfires, or fall decor!

Fun with Giant Slip and Slide

We loved our slip and slide party! We even had a rainbow arch sprinkler at the top for some extra fun. I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into one of our favorite summer activities. xo, Laura
