It’s so easy to let our photos live on our phones, but why not print them out? Not only does this add a personal touch to your home, but it also provides fun decor!

Gone are the days when family photo displays were seen as something only grandmas did. We’re here with some creative tips to help you style family photo displays in your home. Whether you want to fill an entire wall with memories or just add a touch on a shelf, we’ve got you covered.

We’ve partnered with Canon USA, and one of our favorite things about using their printers is the flexibility they offer. You can print anything from large-scale photos to mantle-sized options, plus smaller 2” x 3” prints. Printing at home means you can easily switch out photos whenever you like!

We often get asked which printers we recommend. Our top three are:

  1. PIXMA TS9521C: An all-in-one crafting printer that can handle up to 12×12 borderless prints.
  2. PIXMA MegaTank G3260: Versatile with a huge ink supply, so refilling is rare.
  3. Canon IVY: A pocket-sized printer that uses ZINK technology, turning your photos into stickers without any ink needed.

Stick with the Same Frame and Size for Easy Matching

Elsie’s large family gallery wall is full of memories, but using the same size and frame for each photo makes it look cohesive. Choose frames similar to your wall color for a subtle look or opt for contrasting colors for a bold statement.

For related photos, like annual school pictures or yearly vacation shots, one frame can hold a series beautifully. Just cut a mat to the frame size and create as many windows as needed for a harmonious look.

Choose a Similar Color Palette for Your Photos

Keeping your photos within a limited color palette gives a balanced and cohesive look. Whether all black-and-white or similar colors, matching tones make your display feel curated. If your photos are too varied in color, try converting them to black-and-white or sepia tones.

Mix Close-Up and Wide Shots

Different photo crops add visual interest. Mix wide shots of scenic places with closer selfies or portraits to keep it varied and engaging. A small display, like this Vertical Gold Hoop Photo Display, can add a stylish touch.

Go Big (and Small)

Large-scale photo displays add a personal touch to a space, but smaller displays are just as charming. Mix up large displays with smaller ones on mantles, desks, and shelves for a dynamic look.

Don’t Forget to Update

While it’s natural to keep baby photos around, remember to update your displays regularly to include recent memories. This keeps your display current and reflective of your family as it grows.
