Hey plant lovers! Here at A Beautiful Mess, we’re all about adding a touch of green beauty to our homes, and a charming plant stand is a perfect way to showcase your favorite greenery.
So, I recently stumbled upon this adorable arched plant stand, but yikes, it was $70! That got me thinking—why not make my own and save some cash while creating a bunch at once?
For this DIY project, I used small foam wreaths. They are cheap, easy to cut (I used a bread knife), and you can glue them together and paint them however you like. These fluted arch plant stands come together super quickly and look trendy too!
You can make these stands two ways: horizontally fluted (super easy and fast) or an arched version (which takes a little more time but is totally worth it).
Supplies
- Foam wreath rings (I used 8” size)
- Super glue or hot glue gun
- Wooden circles a bit smaller than your wreath rings (I used 7”)
- Painter’s tape (optional)
- Small craft hand saw or bread knife
- Spray paint or acrylic paint of your choice
Horizontally Fluted Stand
- First, glue a few foam rings together to create the base. I stacked two, but you can add more for extra height.
- Center and glue your wooden circle on top, and you’re all set to paint!
Arched Plant Stand
- For the arched version, start by gluing the rings together as above.
- Then, cut each foam ring in half using a serrated bread knife or craft saw. To keep the edges neat, you can use painter’s tape where you plan to cut.
- You’ll need to cut the rounded top off the half circle (take about 1” off) so the wooden circle can sit flat on top.
- Glue the wooden circle on top of your base and let it set.
- Once the glue is dry, it’s time to paint! Spray paint gives a textured look to the foam, while acrylic paint has a smoother finish. I went with spray paint for a bit of texture.
- After the paint dries, add your plant, and voilà, your stylish plant stand is ready!
