Hey friends! 🎉
I’ve always dreamt of throwing a gingerbread house decorating party, especially now that I’m a mom. This idea is fantastic for little ones and works equally well for adults!
Decorating gingerbread is one of my absolute favorite things—I can spend hours on it. In this post, I’ll share how I set up my party, tips to speed up gingerbread house building, and some tasty treats to serve.
Setting up a Gingerbread House Table
- Pre-Built Houses for Guests: Set a table with a gingerbread house for each guest. Leave them undecorated or lightly decorated so everyone can add their personal touch.
- Icing and Candies Galore: Provide an assortment of colorful icings and candies for decoration.
- Speedy Tip: I built six gingerbread houses in an hour using my secret ingredient… hot glue! If you want your houses to be fully edible, skip the glue though.
From past experiences, I know we won’t be eating these houses, but using hot glue saves so much time! We’ll enjoy batches of fresh gingerbread cookies but these houses are more of a fun craft project.
Decorating Ideas
Set the scene with joyful decorations! I went all out with bottle brush trees, candles, plus Spoonflower’s napkins and tablecloths, which come in over a million designs. Picking out cute and classic prints was so fun!

How to Create a Hot Chocolate Bar
I wrote an entire blog post on this, but in short, set up a tray with all the fixings for epic hot chocolate. Think candy canes, sprinkles, shaped marshmallows, and flavored whipped cream. Go all out!
