Transform Your Dining Room into a Library

Library Dining Room

I stumbled upon a library dining room on Pinterest, and that was it—I had to have my own! After we settled into our new house, I couldn’t stop thinking about adding built-ins.

When we first moved in, our place was super plain and beige (you can check out the before photos here). Adding built-ins has completely changed the vibe, making our home feel so much cozier and more functional every day.

The biggest compliment we get is that our remodel looks like it’s always been this way. I love how we gave a nod to historic homes instead of going with the latest trends. Built-ins just make everything feel instantly warm and inviting!

When it came time to decorate the dining room, I was stuck between built-in bookshelves and wallpaper. Both could really add character, but I went with built-ins because I love books and knew I could style them endlessly.

Here’s a link to my dress—it comes in lots of colors, and I recommend sizing down one size.

The light fixture in the room is one of my favorite details. It’s called the Meme Tulip Drop Chandelier, and it was a lovely gift from Stray Dog Designs. It’s hand-sculpted and totally a work of art.

Room sources: Table and Chairs from Article, Chandelier from Stray Dog Designs, Sconce Lights from Etsy, Tablecloth from Amazon, and Rug from Apple & Oak Nashville.

The jade pottery is a DIY project (I thrifted glass and ceramic vases and painted them).

For the shelves, I wrote a post about my used book collection. Most of the books here are pre-loved treasures.

I’m especially proud of my spooky book collection. No matter what kind of books you’re into, having a home full of books is the best kind of home.

Elsie Larson and a Fireplace Fireplace

Let’s talk fireplaces for a minute. I was on a mission to add as many as possible (we started with one and now have three).

This non-functional fireplace, or “candle fireplace,” was added to the dining room to bring some glow and warmth. I found an antique mantle at a flea market and designed around it. It really adds an antique charm to the whole room.

Thanks so much for reading!
