Hey friends! I’m super excited to show you the new wallpaper in our dining room. If you have a small space like our breakfast nook, wallpaper can really make a huge difference and totally transform the vibe.
For me, finding a wallpaper that feels warm and cozy is the goal. I’m going to share some photos of our space, give you some tips on picking out the perfect wallpaper, and tell you everything you need to know about getting it installed.
Transforming Our Dining Room with Wallpaper
When we bought this house, we instantly adored our little nook with its charming built-ins. It’s such a cheerful, sunny spot, and I couldn’t wait to decorate it! The room originally had some modern, monkey-themed wallpaper. While many folks suggested we keep it, I wanted something that felt more vintage and cozy, like an all-year-round autumn vibe.
After considering lots of patterns, I chose the Medlar design. It strikes the perfect balance between cozy, inviting, and historically fitting for our home built in 1904.
Tips for Choosing Wallpaper for Your Dining Room
-
Always Get Samples: Wallpapers can look different online than in person. If a store doesn’t offer samples, find another that does. It’s worth spending a little extra to see them in your space. I even keep a collection of samples for future projects!
-
Think About Your Space: Large prints usually work better in big rooms, while smaller prints are great for snug areas. If your room has many angles, go for a forgiving pattern to conceal seams.
-
Match Your Home’s Era: For historic homes, choose patterns that could’ve been around when the house was built. More modern designs may feel more at home in newer houses. But in the end, it’s your space—pick what makes you happy!
-
Hire a Pro: Professional installation is key, especially if you want flawless results. The cost of installation often matches the wallpaper price, so budget accordingly. For me, hiring a pro is totally worth it.
-
Skip Peel and Stick for Big Jobs: Many installers won’t touch peel and stick wallpaper. While it’s okay for small projects like shelves, I prefer traditional wallpaper for larger areas.
Here’s how our breakfast nook turned out. The wallpaper looks amazing with the built-ins and big windows. It feels so warm and inviting!
